Abstract
A retained intrabronchial foreign body, particularly part of plant, is the secondary miscellaneous cause of pulmonary hemorrhage in childhood.
In spite of association with foreign body aspiration accident in child, this is often overlooked. The bleeding may be potentially critical and lethal, so surgical resection of the involved bronchopulmonary segment or endobronchospically removal of retained foreign body must be performed. We experienced a case of pulmonary hemorrhage in a 8 year old female patient who had complained about intermittent hemoptysis and chest pain for 6 months.
Diagnosis was confirmed by finding grass head and body located in lateral basal segmental bronchus of right lower lobe after explorative thoracotomy.
A brief review of related literatures is presented.
